BC Mining Pollution in Kootenai River Increasing

October 8, 2019.  Very recent science from the USGS and EPA has revealed that coal mining pollution flowing south out of Teck Resource'sBritish Columbia coalmines into the Kootenai River is affectingmore than we thought.

This issue has proved to be a major focus at Headwaters Montana over the past year.

  September 8, 2017.   After consulting with our partners (Montana Trout Unlimited and NPCA) we regret to announce that we have canceled our September 21st Libby event that was intended to explore the mounting Selenium pollution of Lake Koocanusa and the Kootenai River from coalmining in BC.  Lincoln County, Montana, like many areas in Montana is contending with severe wildfire conditions that are not expected to end in the near future.  Over 40 homes have been lost to fire in
